Chris Rock Gets Questioned at Sundance about Newt Gingich and Smashes Interviewers Camera!

It appears that, bushy haired Chris Rock doesn’t like Newt Gingrich; or at least being asked questions about him. Maybe it was the fact that it was 4AM? As part of the Sundance festivities Rock was at a late night event at Tao when he was unexpectedly hit with a bunch of political questions. The New York Post reports, “A guy walked up to Chris and his entourage and said, ‘Hey, could I get a photo of you with my girlfriend? When rock turned around there was a video camera in his face, and someone asking him about Newt Gingrich....

IDF Probes Death of PA Arab Rioter

The IDF is investigating the death of a PA Arab rioter after he was hit by a tear gas cannister while hurling rocks at IDF soldiers during a riot at the Arab village of Nabi Saleh in Samaria on Friday. The riot erupted as part of a weekly protest that stems from what residents of the village insist is the illegal confiscation of Arab land. A statement from the IDF Spokesperson's Office said Friday, "100 Palestinians protested in Nabi Saleh and hurled rocks at the security forces, who responded with crowd dispersal methods. We received a report that one of...

Saturday Rock n Roll Oldies: THE ANIMALS 'Gonna Send You Back to Walker' (1964)

The Animals were a highly influential English rock/R-n-B group, formed in the early 60s in the north-east of England (Newcastle-upon-Tyne). They later in the decade relocated to the bustling London scene. Renowned for their gritty, bluesy sound and deep-voiced frontman Eric Burdon, the band is best known for timeless classics such as "The House of the Rising Sun", "We Gotta Get Out of This Place", and "It's My Life".   The Animals presented a unique blend of rock-oriented pop hits along with R-n-B material to fill out the albums.  Later -under the name Eric Burdon and the Animals- they moved to California and yet...

Rock band Madison Rising puts conservative thought to music

Named for Founding Father James Madison, they’re a “libertarian … pro-American … pro-constitution” rock band. Where other bands sing about ex-girlfriends and drunken nights, Madison Rising sings about Occupy Wall Street, the Second Amendment and liberal media bias. Lead singer David Bray described the band as a “war drum for patriotism”: a constant and uninterrupted pro-American message. “There are a lot of country acts that are out there that’ll say they’re all about the USA, and then in the next song they’re talking about bar fights and drinking beer in a bar,” explained Bray in an interview with The Daily...

STATUS QUO: 'Spinning Wheel Blues' - 1970

When I was a kid growing up in the late 70s, I used to comb through discount rack and often came-across various LPs by British boogie-rockers Status Quo in those bargain-bins and thinking 'Who the hell is this... and why are their records always being dumped by the dozens...?' None of my friends where into the band, they didn't get US airplay, and I never did buy them, perhaps spooked by the glut of unloved product out there. Most Americans would be likely know the band best for 1967's US/UK psychedelic-rock hit 'Pictures of Matchstick Men'- a song which in fact was their...

Turning it up to 11/11/11: it's Nigel Tufnel day

Hundreds of years before the dawn of history, bloggers declared 11/11/11 to be Nigel Tufnel day. We mark the occasion with 11 Spinal Tap quotes Eleven is the magic number for fans of Rob Reiner's much-loved rock mocumentary This Is Spinal Tap, who have decided to mark today's auspicious date of 11/11/11 as Nigel Tufnel Day, in honour of the great man's specially-made guitar amps. The Nigel Tufnel Day blog, purportedly run by the the Nigel Tufnel Day Appreciation Society and Quilting Bee, puts it thus: "Only once in every century are we given the perfect opportunity to honor one...

TGIF Rock n Roll Oldies: STATUS QUO: Down The Dustpipe - 1970

'Ain't no room for a Kosher cowboy  in a town like New Orleans...' When I was a kid growing up in the late 70s, I used to comb through discount record bins to find stuff not heard on Aerosmith/Supertramp-dominated FM radio of the day. And I often took a chance on something unknown, even just based on the cover art if the price was right- like $.99 back then in olden times. But I often came-across various LPs by British boogie-rockers Status Quo in those bargain-bins and thinking "who the hell is this... and why are their records always being dumped by...

Missing Apollo 17 moon rock worth $10m found in Bill Clinton's files (worth up to $10 million)

An Apollo 17 moon rock missing for 30 years and believed to be worth up to $10 million has turned up in files belonging to Bill Clinton. The valuable rock was one of 50 presented to each state after the 1972 space mission. NASA has found that since the rocks have been distributed, a very low percentage - which are encased in acrylic and mounted on a plaque along with the intended recipient’s flag - can actually be located. The rock, believed to have a black market value of up to $10 million, had been missing since at least 1980...
